Astoria Eats Beat

Bite-size dispatches from Astoria food news & reviews

by guest blogger Tastoriaqueens Bohemian Beer Hall and Beer Garden - A three day celebration of Czech and Slovak food known as “Pork Fest” is coming to the beloved Beer Garden this weekend, starting on Friday night. DNAinfo has the inside scoop on the festival as well as the Astoria Market which will be at Bohemian Hall this Sunday with a Valentine’s Day shopping theme! Cafe Boulis - It’s no secret how much I like this new addition to Astoria’s Greek Cafe culture, tucked around a corner at 31st Avenue and 31st Street. Food blogger Beth Connolly offers this lovely post about this neighborhood newcomer. Carioca Grill - Bountiful Brazilian buffets are hardly to Astoria’s food scene, and neighborhood favorites like Copacabana and Point Brazil have won our hearts over the years. Carioca Grill is new to Broadway, however, and FeedMe-NY has a great introduction to this latest Brazilian Barbecue by the pound spot. Old Prague Tavern - I had the pleasure of stopping by Sunday’s soft opening of Old Prague Tavern, a new establishment from from the owner of well-loved Astoria bar The Quays Pub. Queens NYC has the details on Astoria’s newest bar. MexiBBQ - A long time fan of MexiBBQ’s draught beer selection, I was excited to learn this week that they had added a happy hour on weekdays, from 5pm to 7pm where over 20 of their great craft beer selections will be half price! What’s more, they have added a food happy hour too - a bar menu where everything is under $5. SingleCut Beersmiths - Bars around Astoria are eagerly tapping locally made SingleCut beers, but this week one of their brews showed up in a more unlikely location! We Heart Astoria highlighted this chicken recipe from local chef Clare Logan that uses Singlecut Dark Lyric Lagrr as a secret ingredient. And speaking of SingleCut - they are debuting a new beer this week, the Eric “More Cowbell” Milk Stout. Keep an eye out for it, Astoria!
